BrailleVibes – Privacy Policy
The short version: BrailleVibes is a free experiment with no ads, no account and no third-party SDKs. It records an anonymous session id, your device model, what you do in the app, and whatever you choose to type into the feedback form. That data goes to my server over HTTPS and is used only to improve the app. I never sell or share it. Email me to have it deleted.
Who is responsible
Adar Anaki, sole proprietor, Israel. Contact: adar@anaki.co.il.
What is collected
- Anonymous session id – a random string generated on your device and stored locally. It is not linked to your name, Google account, phone number or any advertising id. Clearing the app's data (or the website's browser storage) creates a new one.
- Device information – device model and operating system version, so I can tell how different vibration motors behave.
- In-app actions – for example which text was played, game answers (correct or not, response time, level, speed) and settings changes. This is how I learn whether the vibration protocol is learnable and at what speed.
- Feedback form – the free text you write, plus an optional name and optional contact detail. All three fields are optional; you can send feedback without identifying yourself.
What is not collected
- No account or sign-up. No password.
- No location, contacts, photos or files.
- Microphone (TunerVibes only) – the guitar tuner listens to the microphone while you have it switched on, to measure the pitch of the string. The audio is processed on the phone in real time and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. Listening stops when you press Stop or leave the screen.
- Camera (LightVibes colour mode only) – when you choose the colour mode, the back camera is analysed on the phone to name the colour in front of it. No image is saved, shown or sent anywhere, and the camera is released as soon as you press Stop or leave the screen. The light mode uses the phone's light sensor and no camera.
- Motion and compass sensors (LevelVibes, CompassVibes) – read live on the phone, never stored or sent.
- Private chat – messages you write in the in-app chat are stored together with the app's session id so we can answer you inside the app. They are read by a person and never shared.
- No advertising id, no ads, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs from third parties.
- The current app does not read your notifications or messages. If a future version adds a notification channel, it will be opt-in and this policy will be updated first.
Why
Only to improve BrailleVibes: to see which timings and modes work, to fix problems on specific devices, and to read your feedback. Nothing else.
Where it is stored
Data is sent over HTTPS to https://braillevibes.com/api/log (app versions up to 0.2.3 use https://braille.anaki.co.il/api/log, the same service) and stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, which replicates across Cloudflare's global network (including the EU). Cloudflare acts as a hosting provider only.
How long it is kept
Until you ask me to delete it. Email adar@anaki.co.il with the approximate date you used the app and your device model (or your name or contact if you entered one in the feedback form) and I will remove the matching records.
Sharing and selling
I do not sell, rent or share this data with anyone. I may publish aggregated, non-identifying findings (for example "accuracy stayed above 90% at speed X") as part of the experiment.
Children
BrailleVibes is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has sent data, email me and I will delete it.
Android permissions

Asked for when you first open the tuner; the audio never leaves the phone.CAMERA– only for LightVibes colour mode, to name the colour in front of the phone. Asked for when you first choose colour mode; nothing is recorded.INTERNET– to send the data described above to my server.
No other permissions are requested.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
